About CFLS
Besides its Headquarters located in Gatineau, Québec, the Canadian Forces Language School (CFLS) consists of several units (National Capital Region Training Company, Detachment Saint-Jean and Detachment Borden), each offering different types of training. The CFLS reports to the Canadian Defence Academy (CDA) in Kingston, Ontario.
Mission
The mission of the Canadian Forces Language School (CFLS) is:
- to provide second language training to members of the Canadian Forces. Also, we provide foreign language training to members who will fill military Attaché's positions or other staff-related functions abroad.
- to provide language training in French and English as a Foreign Language to countries participating in the Military Training and Cooperation Program (MTCP); and
- to support operations by providing specific language training materials such as aide-mémoires and foreign languages tapes.
The School mission also includes representing the Canadian Forces at national and international conference (e.g. Bureau of International Coordination (BILC), held in the field of teaching English, French and Foreign language.
Vision
The vision of CFLS is to remain the institution of choice and the standard for all official and foreign language training in support of the CF and DND by providing pro-active, effective and diversified language training.
